It’s a good news/bad news situation here at Chez FatLady. The PMS has subsided but there has not been any shedding of endometrial layers. Damn. I’m awaiting a call back from the doctor’s office to tell me what to do next.

Meanwhile I think I have a bladder infection/ I say “I think.” One is usually pretty darned sure of a thing like that–and if you’ve ever had a bladder infection, you know what I mean. The pain is very real and there is no mistaking it for, say, menstrual cramps or gas. Well, I had a bit of pain a few nights ago. I went straight to the ‘fridge and downed some cranberry juice and the pain went away. Didn’t come back either. It was a busy week for me so I didn’t think too much of it. Also, I hate to bother doctors for “nothing” and will all my recent stuff, I’ve started feeling a bit like some crazy hypochondriac, so I justified NOT going to the walk-in clinic. I thought it was either a) a false alarm, or b) the cranberry juice had killed whatever it was. Yay cranberries, right?

Night before last, I did have a tiny bit of that same old bladder pain–but so minor I wasn’t even sure. In fact, I’d have a hard time categorizing it as “pain” at all. I ignored it. Maybe that was a mistake. Last evening, sitting here minding my own business, I suddenly began to feel cold. I was deciding on whether I should grab a shawl or turn up the heat and then BAM, I got hit with one of the worst episodes of the chills I’ve ever had in my life. I mean really. My teeth started chattering and I could barely manage to fumble my way into my robe and cover myself with blankets. Honestly, it lasted nearly an hour and was so severe I thought I might crack a tooth or something. Eventually I realized there was a bottle of Advil on the coffee table (one of the blessings of being a clutterbug is that occasionally the thing you need really is right at your fingertips.) I swallowed a couple Advil–dry because I could not get off the sofa for water. Eventually the shivering and chattering subsided but I took my temperature about 20 minutes after the Advil and it was almost 102.

I shed all the extra layers, took a couple more Advil and a shower and then I felt better. It hasn’t come back and I actually slept well.

This morning, I feel fine. I wonder if I should go to the doctor? or not?

……..

Just got a call from the doctor’s office about the Progesterone/no period thing. (…and isn’t is nice to have a doctor’s office who actually returns telephone calls?) I guess this is not unexpected. The nice lady said I might not have a period this cycle. I can start taking the Progesterone again this evening. My period might still start in a couple of days or it might not until next month. I’m reassured.
